Ingredients

  • 2 large ripe bananas or 3 small, mashed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips, ½ cup chopped nuts, or 2–3 tablespoons peanut butter for swirling

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Mash the ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Blend Wet Ingredients: Whisk melted butter and sugar in a separate bowl, then add eggs one at a time. Stir in mashed bananas.
  • Fold Together: Gradually fold the wet mixture into the dry mixture until just combined.
  • Add Optional Extras: Gently stir in chocolate chips, nuts, or swirl in peanut butter if desired.
  • Bake: Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes, checking for doneness at the 20-minute mark.
  • Cool and Slice: Let brownies cool for at least 10–15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a more intense chocolate flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of espresso powder or swirling in melted peanut butter. For those avoiding dairy, substitute butter with coconut oil.
