  • Raisins: 1 cup soaked in warm water for 5–10 minutes (optional)
  • Brown Sugar: ½ to ¾ cup adjust to taste
  • Cornstarch or Flour: 2 tablespoons
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons melted
  • Milk or Cream: ½ cup
  • Cinnamon: ½ teaspoon
  • Nutmeg: Pinch optional
  • Salt: ¼ teaspoon

  • Chopped nuts ¼ cup
  • Extra spices like ginger or cardamom ⅛ teaspoon

Instructions
 

  • Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and chill.
  • In a bowl, whisk brown sugar, cornstarch (or flour), cinnamon, and salt.
  • Stir in milk (or cream) and melted butter until smooth.
  • Fold in raisins until evenly coated.
  • Pour filling into chilled crust.
  • Top with the second crust (optional) and crimp edges; cut slits to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35–40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Cool for at least 1 hour before slicing.
