Ingredients

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

(Optional) ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper or ½ teaspoon chili powder for extra heat

Instructions

  • Toast the Rice: Melt butter in a wide skillet over medium heat. Add rice, onion, and garlic, stirring until the rice turns slightly golden and the onion is translucent (about 4–5 minutes).
  • Season: Reduce heat to medium-low. Add paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat the rice thoroughly.
  • Add Broth: Pour in chicken broth. Stir gently and bring to a simmer.
  • Simmer and Cover: Once it begins to bubble, reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 18–20 minutes without stirring.
  • Fluff and Serve: Turn off the heat. Lift the lid and fluff with a fork. Adjust seasonings if needed. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can easily adjust the spice level by adding or omitting ingredients like cayenne pepper or chili powder.
