Instructions
Rinse the rice under cool water until clear; drain well.
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion for 2–3 minutes, then stir in garlic for 30 seconds.
Add turmeric, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper; stir for 30 seconds to bloom the spices.
Add the rice and stir it for about a minute to lightly toast and coat it with the spices.
Slowly add the broth and place the bay leaf into the pot. Bring to a gentle boil.
Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 16–18 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
Remove from heat. Let it rest covered for 5 minutes.
Once cooked, fluff the rice gently with a fork and mix in any optional extras you’d like. Serve warm.
